Caterpillar Reach Forklifts
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is usually utilized. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular version is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Inside most warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
