Caterpillar Dual Fuel Forklifts
Lift Truck Training
A lot of industries make use of powered industrial trucks for material handling. In the recycling industry, internal combustion powered forklifts are popular. Lift truck operation requires operators who are well trained. Training is a requirement within North America, and for good reason. A forklift could inflict personal injury or serious damage to property if not used safely. A loaded forklift could weight three times as much as a car. Lift trucks are responsible for numerous industrial accidents, either as the secondary or the primary source of the accident. Reports of fatalities or injuries that involve pedestrians or operators are all too commonplace.
A training program for operators should be developed and applied by employers. Also, the program must be based on four factors: the general principles of safe truck operation, the types of vehicles being used within the workplace, the general safety requirements, based on OSHA and the specific hazards of the workplace. Training includes both formal and practical parts. At the completion of the training, operators should pass an assessment showing they have the ability to correctly operate a truck. OSHA also requires that powered industrial truck operators must be trained in certain specified subject matters which is relevant to operating a lift truck safely.
