Terex Electric Scissor Lifts
How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people value the convenience of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide much more piece of mind than trying to perform a similar job using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated inside the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
