Situated twenty nine miles east of San Francisco, Concord is a city in Contra Costa County, California. It is the biggest city in the County, with a projected population of 125,000 or more, covering 31.13 square miles. The city rests adjacent to Mt. Diablo.
Concord is among the fastest growing countries within the San Francisco Bay Area. Roughly 13% of the Contra Costa County population, represented by the population within Concord. The central location to surrounding communities and its copious population makes Concord an ideal place for businesses to locate. It offers a huge customer base and an educated personnel.
Concord is really well located and provides residents with easy access to Napa Valley, San Fransisco, Silicon Valley and Sacramento. The Immediate Bay Area provides different activities and scenic routes and the warm weather encourages residents to enjoy the scenic attractions all over Northern California.
In downtown Concord, the main attraction is Todos Santos Plaza, that is famous for its farmers market. It has many destination restaurants and free summer concerts. In order to take advantage of the public transportation as well as the wonderful area all-around the park, the city has recently redeveloped the downtown area, adding new condominium and apartment projects. Unfortunately, this has not totally solved the crime and homelessness problems within the downtown area.
In the past, Concord has served as a bedroom community for bigger cities in the neighborhood, such as San Francisco and Oakland. However, in the last couple of decades, the job market within the city has increased. Back-office operation similar to those from Bank of America and Chevron, have been established here. These have helped to bring a wider variety in the local economy. Among the largest shopping centers in the US, Sunvalley Mall, is located here, and a lot of auto dealerships, Cosco, and Fry's Electronics. Before being shut down in the year 2008, the website hosting provider Atrivo also headquartered here.
